It All Starts in the Gut…

Dr. Campbell is convinced that autistic children are in fact born with perfectly normal brains and perfectly normal sensory organs.

"What happens in these children [is that] they do not develop normal gut flora from birth…" she says. "Gut flora is a hugely important part of our human physiology. Recently research in Scandinavia has demonstrated that 90 percent of all cells and all genetic material in a human body is our own gut flora. We are just a shell… a habitat for this mass of microbes inside us. We ignore them at our own peril.

…As a result, their digestive system—instead of being a source of nourishment for these children—becomes a major source of toxicity. These pathogenic microbes inside their digestive tract damage the integrity of the gut wall. So all sort of toxins and microbes flood into the bloodstream of the child, and get into the brain of the child. That usually happens in the second year of life in children who were breast fed because breastfeeding provides a protection against this abnormal gut flora. In children who were not breastfed, I see the symptoms of autism developing in the first year of life.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

By Jean Brandau, About.com

Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber

We're all concerned about our health, feeling good and having lots of energy. Everyone knows that we must have oxygen in order to live. Now oxygen is being recognized as a "new" healing therapy. According to Oxygen Therapy: The First 150 Years, "Supplemental or 'extra' oxygen is one of the most widely used therapies for people admitted to the hospital." Going one step further, Hyperbaric Oxygenationis being used as a supplement to conventional treatments of all kinds of diseases and medical conditions: breast cancer, asthma, cerebral palsy, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, headaches, multiple sclerosis, wound healing and stroke, just to name a few. People are using it to help themselves heal faster from surgeries and injuries.

"Hyper" means increased and "baric" relates to pressure. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy(HBOT) refers to intermittent treatment of the entire body with oxygen at greater than normal atmospheric pressures. As Dr. Cranton explains: "This increased pressure, combined with an increase in oxygen, dissolves oxygen in to the blood and in all body tissues and fluids at up to 20 times normal concentration-high enough to sustain life with no blood at all."

You've probably heard about Michael Jackson's use of a Hyperbaric oxygen therapy. I remember reading that he slept in an oxygen chamber. Many athletics can't afford to be sidelined for very long in their sport and need to recover as quickly as possible from any injuries. Professional athletes, like Lance Armstrong, own their on Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber and get back on their feet quicker than those who don't.

In Dr. Morton Walker's book Hyperbaric OxygenTherapy, he says:

  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is known to reverse the effects of strokes and head injuries. It has helped damaged tissues, fights infections and diseases. HBOT uses pressurized oxygen administered in special chambers, It has been used for years to treat divers with the bends. As time has gone on, doctors have discovered other applications for this remarkable treatment.
There are two different kinds of chambers--a monoplace chamber with an acrylic shell that holds one person in a supine position. The other type of chamber is multiplace and can hold from 2-10 people. You can usually sit up in these big chambers. For more information, see The History of Hyperbaric Chambers and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

NEWS RELEASE:

For Immediate Release - October 1, 2007

Urine Testing Confirms Autism is Mercury Poisoning

WASHINGTON, DC – A new peer-reviewed scientific/medical case study confirms that many children with autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs) suffer from mercury poisoning. The new study, “A Prospective Study of Mercury Toxicity Biomarkers in Autistic Spectrum Disorders” by Mr. David A. Geier and Dr. Mark R. Geier has been published in the most recent issue of the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, Part A (volume 70, issue 20, pgs 1723-1730).

This study utilized urinary porphyrin profile analysis (UPPA) to assess body-burden and physiological effects of mercury in children diagnosed with ASDs.

Using UPPA, Geier and Geier (2007) examined 71 children diagnosed with ASDs, neurotypical siblings, and general population controls. The researchers studied urinary porphyrin patterns using results reported both by the US Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) and the French Laboratoire Philippe Auguste.

Their findings demonstrated that:
* Only the non-chelated patients diagnosed with ASDs had porphyrin patterns indicative of clinical mercury toxicity.
* Treating ASD diagnosed patients with chelating agents resulted in lower mercury-specific urinary porphyrins.
* The UPPA patterns reported were consistent between the two labs used.

Checking hydration.
Thirty minutes later, with the sunrise shrouded by thick clouds, Tracy Krohn in a Pontiac-Riley Daytona Prototype spun in Turn 5. When the morning mist thickened to torrential rain, he spun again, this time in Turn 6. Four hours before the checkered flag, Paul Tracy, an Indianapolis 500 veteran, skidded off course into a tire barrier.

Were these incidents of brake fade? Or were they a result of brain fade, the grind of racing twice around the clock taking its toll on driver concentration?

The vagaries of racing keep you from knowing for sure, though Dr. John Gleddie, a chiropractor in St. Catharines, Ontario, offers a plausible theory: fatigue.

While successful racing teams have long understood the benefits of driver fitness, their conditioning programs are generally put in suspension once the green flag drops. But top endurance teams are learning that how drivers are treated between their shifts of a long race can be critical to the results.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy: medical hope or hot air?

Ulysses Torassa, Chronicle Health Writer

Sunday, March 9, 2003

Some parents of children with cerebral palsy and other forms of brain damage say a treatment long used by doctors for other conditions has brought what seem like near-miraculous advances in kids who hadn't been able to talk, walk or feed themselves.

The treatment -- hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or HBOT -- delivers pure oxygen at higher-than-normal pressures to patients sitting or lying in a chamber. Although there is no proof, advocates believe that in brain damage cases the extra oxygen can prompt dormant or damaged neurons to become reinvigorated.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has long been used in mainstream medicine to treat a dozen very specific problems, such as stubborn wounds, but its use in neurological conditions is highly controversial.

In the past few years, parent activism has spawned a nationwide movement to get research and recognition for the use of the therapy for their disabled children. And the mainstream medical community -- though skeptical -- is starting to funnel some money and effort into the question.

"As of now, there is no scientific evidence in support of the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for cerebral palsy, but on the other hand, there are still enough questions here that we are reluctant to say this is just foolishness," said Dr. Murray Goldstein, medical director of the United Cerebral Palsy Research and Education Foundation.

The organization expects soon to announce a $300,000 study into the treatment, which involves multiple sessions in a chamber over the course of weeks or months.

Re: The Awakening Petition.

Dear Mr. President,

On behalf of myself and the people whose signatures are included in this petition, we do hereby submit this petition before you and to the United States Government and it's various agencies.

We desire approval of our petition so that the people of the United States may have full Access to Medical Treatments and medical insurance coverage for the treatments of Central Nervous System health concerns of Traumatic Brain Injuries and Neurodegenerative Disorders with the use of High-Dosage Oxygen Therapy (HDOT) which is also known as Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT).

We suggest that it is from negative politics that the eyes and ears of the Dept. of Health and Human Services in the United States has been turned away from hearing the cries of the children of America.

The people of the United States work for a lifetime and pay a mandatory percentage of their income in order to have medical coverage in their time of need, and yet, should they elect to have Access to the Medical Treatment of High-Dosage Oxygen Therapy for conditions of cerebral hypoxia and other serious neurological concerns, medical insurance is generally unavailable to them or to their children. We are happy to see that this is changing in the state of Texas, we petition that it may be done in all the United States.
